HOOL is a strategic card game designed for four players, who are seated in the positions of North, East, South, and West. The game's format pairs North and South as partners opposing East and West. HOOL unfolds over three distinct stages, each introducing a unique element of gameplay.
In the initial stage, all players reveal two pieces of information regarding the cards in their hands, fostering a strategic dialogue among participants. This sharing of information sets the foundation for informed decision-making in subsequent rounds.
The second stage consists of an auction where players bid on the total number of tricks they believe they can win and whether they will play in a Trump or No Trump scenario. The player who places the highest bid is designated as the declarer, establishing a dynamic in which they will attempt to fulfill their contract.
Finally, the third stage involves the play of the cards. Here, the declarer strives to achieve their contractual obligations while the opposing defenders work to thwart these efforts. This interplay creates an engaging environment where strategy and teamwork are paramount.
